St Nicholas Info

'Grotesque' is the name given to carved stone heads often sited on the corbels of European churches. They differ from gargoyles in that they are decorative features and do not serve the purpose of draining rain water. Sometimes the stone masons would model the heads on their own, pulling faces and making rude gestures.
